Complete Carbs provides the body with four forms of complex carbohydrates, making it a medium and long-term source of energy.

When carbohydrates are consumed BEFORE & DURING training, they quickly provide the body with a direct source of energy. Doing so, prevents the body from accessing its glycogen stores for energy. In addition, the use of carbohydrates and the secretion of insulin before training increases the activation of the mTOR enzyme. The role of the mTOR enzyme in the body is to regulate protein synthesis and cell growth in response to different factors (growth, nutrients, energy levels, etc). Therefore, for the same training volume, if the mTOR enzyme is activated, protein synthesis will be greater as well as muscle growth.

To understand the effects of carbohydrates, we must first understand that without the presence of carbohydrates in the body prior to a workout, the body will then secrete cortisol. One of cortisol’s functions is to provide energy by drawing from the body’s reserves. When the body’s energy reserves are utilized, the AMPK enzyme is then secreted, preventing the mTOR enzyme from stimulating protein synthesis and thereby decreases muscle growth following training. In short, the more energy is drawn from the body’s reserves, the lower the muscular increase and the longer the recovery.

If the body is fed with a source of carbohydrates prior to training, then there would be no need for the body to draw from the reserves, therefore, there will be no increase in cortisol. Given their inverse relationship, a decrease in cortisol levels results in a higher level of testosterone and a more effective protein synthesis.

Alternatively, rather than using Complete Carbs prior to training, it can be used POST-TRAINING, which will restore muscle glycogen stores. It should be noted that though the consumption of carbohydrates alone can produce great results, the combination of amino acids and carbohydrates will be much more effective in restoring muscle glycogen stores while optimizing muscle recovery.
