Studies show that 65% of us will have trouble falling asleep tonight and wake up exhausted tomorrow. There is evidence that lack of sleep is positively correlated to depression, impaired cognitive function, cardio vascular disease, strokes, type 2 diabetes, obesity, hormonal imbalances, and cancer.

Here is the list of ingredients in specific ratios that can provide you with the quality sleep you need to be optimal:

Gaba (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a neurotransmitter that send chemical messages through the brain and nervous system and is involved in regulating communication between brain cells. Gaba plays an important role in behaviour, cognition, and the body’s response to stress. Low levels of Gaba may be link to anxiety, depression or mood and sleep disorders, epilepsy and chronic pain. Researchers show that gaba may boost mood or have a calming, relaxing effect on the nervous system by increasing levels of the chemicals circulating in the blood. Gaba is prescribed for many conditions such as to relieve anxiety, improve sleep and mood, help with premenstrual syndrome (PMS), treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (TDAH) and relieve pain and discomfort.

Camomilla (Matricaria chamomilla flowers) is used as a natural sedative, helping to relieve restlessness and induce sleep. Chamomilla treats a large range of physical symptoms and mental-emotional arising from irritability and increased stimuli to sensitivity. Chamomilla may be used to cure insomnia and depression. It can also be used as a muscle relaxant.

Passionflower has a sedative effect. It may help adults manage anxiety, mild sleep irregularities, and stomach problems. It may help manage insomnia related to neurasthenia or hysteria, and nervous exhaustion. It appears to boost the level of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in your brain. This compound lowers brain activity, which may help you relax and sleep better.

L-theanine is an amino acid derived from certain teas that provide a calm, relaxed sense of awareness. It relieves stress by inducing a relaxing effect without drowsiness and may also possess immunologic attributes. Theanine may also have effects on the cardiovascular system and play a preventative role in cancer.

Lemon Balm: Primary interest in lemon balm surrounds its effects on the central nervous system. It has been used to care for wounds and quell sleeplessness. It calms the mind, encourages restful sleep, boosts alertness, protects brain cells, sharpens memory and problem solving.

Magnesium glycinate: The amount of research regarding the benefits of magnesium and the need to take magnesium supplements to counteract a deficiency is staggering. A magnesium deficiency causes noticeable negative symptoms – including muscle aches or spasms, poor digestion, anxiety, and trouble sleeping. Magnesium glycinate is a form of magnesium that is highly absorbable. It is recommended for anyone with a known magnesium deficiency and less likely to cause laxative effects than some other magnesium supplements. It helps increase energy, calm nerves, fall asleep, treat insomnia, relieve muscle aches and spasms to name a few.

Melatonin is a hormone made by the pineal gland, a small gland in the brain. Melatonin helps control sleep and wake cycles. Very small amounts of it are found in foods such as meats, grains, fruits, and vegetables. Melatonin supplements may be used to treat jet lag or sleep problems (insomnia). Other good uses for melatonin are treating seasonal affective disorder (SAD), helping to control sleep patterns, and reducing chronic cluster headaches.
